More info: kamweifong.com | Etsy | Instagram | Facebook | pinterest.ie In my imaginary world of cats, which I name Wonderfurryland, the emphasis of each cat character is on form and shape, giving less attention to realistic details such as nose, mouth, and whiskers. This abstraction allows viewers to appreciate the essence of the cat’s personality and emotions. When it comes to commissioned pet portraits, more attention was given to characteristics like patterns and unique markings yet the portrait still embraces the minimalistic approach of my style.” Asked about specific artists influencing Fong’s artistic vision, the artist mentioned Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Georges Seurat, Joan Miro, and the style of Bauhaus. He also added he’s inspired by the late graphic designers Ikko Tanaka and Koichi Sato, and traditional Chinese and Japanese ink painting and calligraphy. Kamwei shared with us: “Collectively, these artists and designers serve as a profound source of inspiration for me. They showcase an exceptional ability to perceive and interpret the world around them. Their perspectives resonate with me, influencing the way I express my creativity in my artwork.” Kamwei also told us more about some memorable stories of reactions of people who have seen and appreciated his art: “There are plenty of good ones. To name a few, I had the privilege of receiving numerous good reviews on my online shop, with many favorable reviews highlighting the quality of my artwork. Additionally, I had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful people at the gallery in Paris and during my exhibition at Salon des Beaux Arts. The exchange with them was pleasant and insightful, it feels great to know that my artworks are loved and appreciated.” Moreover, I found a deeper sense of fulfillment when I received pet portrait commissions from pet owners who would like a memorial portrait for their departed pets. This gives me a strong sense of responsibility as I am creating a lasting tribute to their beloved pets. Besides being a creative endeavor, this is a meaningful expression of empathy for departed pets that have made beautiful memories in their owners’ lives. I truly enjoyed the genuine connection between the artwork and their beloved pet.” Follow Bored Panda on Google News! Follow us on Flipboard.com/@boredpanda!
